Olímpico takes off in Corrientes and leaves San Martín with four straight defeats
The Santiago team won 106-86, reached three consecutive victories in the National League and relied on Jeremías Frontera’s 30 points. San Martín accumulates another loss in a difficult start to the season.
The key play was in the third quarter. When San Martín tried to stay close, Olympic turned the game on its head with two consecutive triples from Lucas Pérez. The lead grew to 20 points, and the local team finished the period 83-63. From there, the result was managed without surprises.
Olympic arrived in Corrientes with momentum after beating Boca and Regatas. The Santiago team confirmed that it is in a good run and defeated San Martín 106-86 at the Fortín Rojinegro. The victory gives Olympic its third straight win in the National League.
Frontera took over the game
Jeremías Frontera was the figure of the night with 30 points. He led the visitors’ attack and kept contributing during the decisive stretch. Diego Collomb scored 23 for San Martín, but his performance was not enough to stop the Santiago team.
The first quarter ended 30-23 for Olympic. The visitors improved their defense and took advantage of counterattacks to build an early advantage. San Martín responded in the second quarter, with Lautaro Berra, Sebastián Lugo and a three-pointer from Collomb. The lead briefly changed hands, but Austin Wrighten and Lucas Pérez answered before halftime. Olympic went into the break ahead 49-43.
In the same way a historic comeback changes the mood of a stadium, those two triples from Pérez changed the pace of the match. San Martín could not recover. The final stretch was more about control than drama: Olympic closed the game 106-86 and left with three victories in a row.
Ferro also broke a losing streak
In another game from the same night, Ferro defeated Platense 86-81 in Caballito and ended a run of two consecutive losses. El Verdolaga started with a 12-0 partial, maintained the advantage in the first half and controlled the rhythm after halftime to secure the two points.
For San Martín, the defeat is now the fourth consecutive. The team needs to find answers soon if it wants to change the course of a complicated start to the tournament. Olympic, meanwhile, will try to sustain this level and continue climbing the standings. The next challenge will show whether the three-game winning streak was the beginning of a stronger run or just another good night in Corrientes.
