The study identifies 34 different taxes, rates and contributions that may apply to a business: 16 of national jurisdiction, 8 provincial and 10 municipal. It also records 28 perception, withholding and information regimes. The figure does not represent a complete inventory of all taxes in the country, but rather the most representative obligations for an average company established in the interior.

What the figures show

The methodology is based on a limited liability company with its own establishment, registered employees, vehicles and technological equipment. It operates in commercial, industrial or service activities, uses domestic and imported inputs, exports part of its production and contracts basic services such as electricity, gas, water, telephony and internet.

  • 16 national taxes, rates and contributions.
  • 8 provincial taxes, rates and contributions.
  • 10 municipal taxes, rates and contributions.
  • 28 perception, withholding and information regimes.

Compared with the previous year, the number of taxes fell from 37 to 34. The report attributes the reduction to the elimination of internal taxes on insurance and cellular telephony, as well as the exclusion of the public-space occupancy rate. This change did not substantially alter the overall structure of obligations faced by a company.

The number of perception, withholding and information regimes also declined, from 30 in 2025 to 28 in 2026. Withholdings are applied when a payment is made, while perceptions are collected when goods are acquired or services are contracted. Information regimes require companies to provide data to tax authorities within fixed deadlines.

The analysis distinguishes between taxes paid directly by the company and those incorporated into the prices of the goods and services it consumes. The latter include fuels, insurance, connectivity and imported inputs. For this reason, the survey includes concepts that affect the company indirectly, even when they do not appear as a tax settlement in its own name.

The Iaraf warns that perception and withholding mechanisms generate additional administrative expenses and can have an impact on cash flow. The study also notes that the reduction in the number of obligations should not be interpreted as a proportional simplification of the tax burden, since the remaining requirements continue to demand administrative management.
